The Railway Clearing House standard wagon buffers were introduced in 1932,  Some of the Railway Companies, the LMS in particular, and also the Southern adopted these designs for most of their future wagon stock.  Private Owner wagon builders seem to have had plenty of older stocks to use up.  Whilst the railway companies tended to use vacuum braked stock rather than unfitted wagons, the use of these buffers was not as widespread as one might at first assume.  However these buffers can be seen on many wagons and vans built after 1932.
