These simple etchings fold up to provide a frame onto which cosmetic sides may be glued so as to enable bogies to be made up quickly and accurately. The bogies are suspended from swing links that impart that prototypical sway so typical of period coaches. The pivot is a short vertical shaft that ensures a low friction bearing and prevents that unrealistic rocking of toy trains. The axle bearings are located in slots so that the axle and bearings may be dropped into the inverted frame without distorting it. The cosmetic sides are then glued onto the sides of the frame, and lock the bearings into position. The bogies are retained by means of an E-clip in a groove at the top of the steel post. This allows for a quick release of the bogie, once the chassis has been detached. There is a slot beneath the post, through which the wire of an Alex Jackson coupling may be passed. The coupling is fixed to the chassis at a point above the back of the bogie, whilst a wire loop at the front of the bogie will steer the wire to align with the bogie centreline.
